The Bay Area Environmental Education
Evaluation Learning Community
July 2004
Dear Colleague:
Better together. These two words convey what participants in the Bay Area Environmental Education Evaluation Learning Community have demonstrated through their collaborative activities since June 2003. More than 25 environmental education program providers, evaluation specialists and foundation officials have engaged in a series of learning experiences to:
• Build a common base of knowledge about environmental education research and evaluation
• Develop a logic model to explain how environmental knowledge and awareness can result in pro-environmental behavior
• Create a plan, based on the logic model, to increase capacity for evaluation of environmental education in the San Francisco Bay region.
The documents downloadable from the bottom of this web page capture the knowledge that has been developed through this process. Specifically, the contents include:
Learning Community Final Documents
.. Final Learning Community Report
.. Final Logic Model
.. Regional Framework PowerPoint
.. Summary Report for Organization Use
Evaluation Tools Database
Individual Session Notes and Selected Presentations
.. Situation Analysis PowerPoint
.. Measuring Results PowerPoint
.. Notes for each of the seven sessions
Congratulations to all the learning community participants for this important contribution to advancing environmental education in the Bay Area and beyond. Special thanks to the learning community facilitator, Jack Chin of Blueprint Research & Design, for guiding the learning process. We are also indebted to the many evaluators who have shared their expertise and tools with us.
