L 2C was a 12-month research project based at the University of Bath, England and funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) from June 2004-May 2005. The research was undertaken in collaboration with Kingsfield School, Kingswood, South Gloucestershire. Here, we show how students, teachers, parents, community workers and university researchers have been working together to investigate the relationship between students' local community experience and their school curriculum.
